Return Deadline Calculator: The Last Day to Return Your Purchase

Pick the store and item type, enter your purchase or delivery date, and get your last return day, how many days are left and how long the refund usually takes. Save a reminder to your calendar in one click.

Runs in your browser: we don’t send or store what you type.

How to use the calculator

  1. Pick the store.
  2. Pick the item type. Many stores give fewer days for electronics, phones or appliances, and some give more to members.
  3. Enter the right date. The calculator tells you whether the window starts at purchase or at delivery. Amazon and SHEIN count from delivery; Walmart, Target and Temu count from purchase.
  4. Check the result and download the reminder (.ics file for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook) if you want one.

Where the return windows come from

Every window comes from that store’s guide on Recursos Prácticos, which we check against the store’s official return policy. Each result links to the guide, where you’ll see the sources and the date we last verified it.

Your order page wins. Stores print the exact deadline on your receipt or in your order details (Amazon calls it the “Return by” date). If it differs from this calculator, go with the store and let us know so we can recheck the guide.

Calendar days vs. business days

Return windows are counted in calendar days. Refund times are often quoted in business days; for those, the calculator skips Saturdays and Sundays but not federal holidays, so add a day if one falls in between.

Tip Holiday purchases often get longer windows (for example, Walmart’s Oct 1–Dec 31 purchases can go back until Jan 31). Check the store’s guide before you assume the normal window.

FAQ

Does the return window start at purchase or delivery?

It depends on the store. Amazon and SHEIN count from delivery; Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and Temu count from the purchase date. The calculator shows which one each option uses.

What if the last day falls on a weekend?

Stores don’t usually extend the window for weekends. If the store counts calendar days, the deadline is the date on the calendar, so start the return earlier.

Can I return something after the deadline?

Sometimes, but usually for store credit or a fee. Ulta, for example, gives merchandise credit only between days 31 and 60, and Amazon may charge a late-return fee. See the store’s guide.

How long will the refund take?

The result shows the typical refund time the store publishes. After the store issues it, your card issuer posts it; under federal rules, a credit card issuer must credit your account within 3 business days of receiving the merchant’s credit.

Does this tool store my dates?

No. Everything runs in your browser; we don’t send or keep the dates you enter.
